Your role

SUMMARY:  
The incumbent operates utilities equipment such as boilers, back-up generators, air compressors, process chillers, process HVAC systems, and cooling tower water systems.  Adheres to all relevant SH&E, Quality and applicable cGMP regulations and guidelines.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Boiler Responsibilities: Operates (2) steam boilers, softeners, deaerator and all related support equipment and piping as to provide a continuous supply of steam to the site.  Fills out the boiler log sheet according to the schedule, orders boiler chemicals as required, stocks boiler room with salt and keeps boiler room clean & orderly and inspects boiler room safety shower.  Assists boiler systems contractor as required during the annual boiler cleaning and stack emission testing.

Cooling Tower System Responsibilities: Operates and takes water samples according to schedule and fill out tower log sheets.  Adds chemicals as required to keep tower water chemistry stable and support system chemical contractor as required during weekly visits.

Utilities Responsibilities:  Operates, inspects and completes shift logs for air compressors, A.C. dryers, low temp chillers, HVAC chiller systems, backup generators, and o/s.   Keeps all equipment rooms in a clean and orderly condition.  

Safety:  Checks electrical switches in main gate guard house, fills out safety paper work, is responsible for EHS safety review and weekly test of the fire pump and showers and eye wash stations in B/R, W/R, and M&B.

Utility Chemical Treatment:  Tests and adds boiler chemicals as required to keep boiler chemistry stable and support system chemical contractor as required during the weekly visits.

Fuel Oil: Takes daily individual meter readings, except fuel deliveries, fill out delivery log book, add chemicals to fuel tank.

Nitrogen System:  Records daily tank level, except nitrogen deliveries, check tank pressure.

USP Water:  Prepares the USP water sample bottles and water results summary sheets.  Also, take USP water morning readings.

Other Responsibilities: Adheres to all applicable SHE and cGMP regulations, adheres to personal moral, ethical, legal, and behavioral conduct in compliance with the Siegfried Code of Conduct, and  performs other duties as directed by management.

Your profile

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent 
Must be able to read and write legibly in English and perform simple arithmetic
Must have a Black Seal Boiler License from state NJ as a minimum and a Blue Seal within 2 yrs. Of service
3-5 yrs. utility operations experience with boilers, chillers and air compressors a plus
Knowledge of HVAC system operation a plus

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift and push ~ 75 lbs. / climb stairs and ladder.
Must be able to operate in-plant vehicles.

Pennsville is our drug substance manufacturing site for the US mar-ket and provides spray drying operations globally.
